Group Leader

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Production Manager

 

Role: Plan, organize, and control production to ensure safety and Customer needs are met (quality and timely), in an effective and efficient manner.  Note: Group Leaders do not supervise so they do not do performance reviews nor discipline processes.

 

Purpose: Maintain and improve work practices and methods, serve as the central communication point for the entire cell

 

Major Duties/ Responsibilities: In support of the role and purpose stated above, the major duties/responsibilities are to maintain the methods that work and improve upon those methods-specific tasks include:

  • Reinforce Safety
  • Plan the work, especially so Operators know what they will be working on next
  • Train the Craftsmen on the best way to do the work task, and follow up to make sure it is being done the right way and that if it not right it is not done
  • Develop and verify the standard, best way of doing task, organize so it is easy for the Craftsmen to make enough good parts
  • Inspect the product to ensure it meets Customer needs, feedback to the Operator
  • Manage the Kanban system within your area
  • Notify appropriate people when product will not provided as planned or other abnormalities occur
  • Keep the score card for your team
  • Recognize and resolve problems
  • Eliminate waste, especially scrap and overtime
  • Other task/responsibilities as directed by the Production Manager

 

Personal Accountability: Ensure each day, the following is accomplished:

  • Wear appropriate personal protective devices, work safely
  • Make the best use of time
  • Perform all duties in an independent manner with little supervision
  • Have a “do what needs to be done” attitude, specifically when it come to delighting the Customer
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Report to work on time and be respectful of the fact we need you here
  • Do not be encumbered when at work

 

Qualifications:  To attempt to succeed in this position, key success factors include-

  • Good at working with people
  • Detail oriented, very good at make sure everything is right-especially the paper work
  • Prior Group Leader experience helpful
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of the products produced preferred

 

Benefits: Pay of $1.00/ hour more above your earned Master Craftsman status
